TSW Summer Rerun: The High Cost of Fr. Marcial Maciel

Visitors to These Stone Walls who have the good fortune to be reading from "Down Under" are enduring their winter chill right about now. It's hard to imagine from this corner of the world. Like most of the Continental United States, the Northeast has been in the unrelenting grip of a record heat wave for much of July. This has special implications for bloggers writing from inside a sweltering prison cell - though I’m actually the only one I know of. For one thing, the lack of electrical outlets means that plugging in my typewriter first requires unplugging my fan. At the moment, every fiber of my being rebels against that. I actually did my best to work on a riveting post this week, but half way through page three I abandoned it. I surrender! The heat on the "inside” has defeated me – for the moment. But all is not lost. The post I am working on for next week is actually Part II of something I wrote a year ago. Reading it anew - or for the first time if you missed it last year - would be a good start for next week's post. I also think it was an important post for reasons that will hopefully be clearer next week. Please click here for an encore presentation of one of my more urgent posts for the priesthood in the current climate: “The High Cost of Father Marcial Maciel, and Why I resent Paying It."… and stay cool!
